2009 New Mexico Economic Summit on Early Childhood Investment
The summit was held to bring together business leaders from across the state to discuss the importance of a high-quality and well-educated workforce through investments in early childhood programs. Nationally known and respected speakers shared the latest brain development research and the economics of early childhood education. Attendees also learned why quality early childcare and education is so important for employers, for our economy and for our communities. In addition, the CEO to CEO perspectives layed the ground work for a call to action within our New Mexico business community in the coming months.

To attract and retain the best companies, New Mexico must have a high quality well educated workforce. Researchers from economists to neuroscientists, discussed how in order to achieve this goal, we must focus more resources on early education, particularly when it comes to our most at-risk children and families. Otherwise, New Mexico will not have the human capital to meet the needs of New Mexico companies.
